Background of Project
ADRA Madagascar is seeking an Deputy Project Director for USAID-funded Development Food Assistance Program (DFAP). The program is designed to improve food access and incomes through nutrition, agriculture, resilience and other livelihoods initiatives; combat malnutrition through behavior change, education, and the distribution of nutrition rations for children under two and pregnant and lactating women; and mitigate disaster impact through early warning and community preparedness activities.

The Deputy Project Director will report to the Project Director and will provide day-to-day support and supervision to the Technical Specialists in planning, implementing and monitoring the activities of the project.
The person works with support departments to get the necessary support to implement and accomplish the project. Ensures that cross-cutting aspects (integration between components, sustainability, environment, governance, gender) are built into the planning and implementation done by specialists and that implementation of activities includes reaching quantitative and qualitative goals.

• At least five years of management experience in sustainable development programming.
• Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field (with a master’s degree in an appropriate field highly desirable).
• Experience in Title II Project implementation
• Experience with USAID grants or contracts.
• Familiarity with USAID-supported cooperating agencies, donors, and international counterpart organizations in similar operating contexts and countries.
• Experience with financial and administrative management.
• Experience in implementing gender sensitive programs.
• Experience in Africa (preferably francophone Africa)

• French language. Malagasy a plus

Up to 30% domestic travel required. Must have ability to travel at short notice.

Interact with co-workers, supervisors, donors and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.
