On the 11th and 12th of May 2020, ADRA delivered commodities and WASH (Water, sanitation and hygiene) kits to the most vulnerable families in its neighbourhood. The response was funded by Latter-Day Saint Charities.
470 families – approximately 2820 people – who were afflicted by the economic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and whose incomes drastically decreased were provided with assistance in order to meet with their urgent food requirements, and to improve access to hygiene.
Ten youth volunteers from the local Adventist church conducted the beneficiary identification based on these vulnerability criteria: female-headed household, large family with children under five, or family with elderly or handicapped people.
Each family received a WASH kit composed of five 20 l water containers, one soap bar, five bottles of water purification solution, and commodities including 25 kg of rice, 2 l of oil, 2 kg of dried beans, and 1 kg of salt.
