« MIATRIKA project » is a project aiming to strengthen community-led resilience to deal with climate change at the St Augustin Rural Commune, Toliara II district, Atsimo Andrefana region. It is funded by Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) for a period of 33 months from August 1st, 2025, to April 30th, 2028.
- OS1: To enhance species and ecosystem resilience to climate change
- OS2: To increase community resilience to climate change
- OS3: To establish monitoring mechanisms at community level
MIATRIKA will contribute through two core pillars:
- Mangrove restoration and conservation: Strengthening ecosystem services that buffer climate shocks and support biodiversity conservation.
- Sustainable livelihoods: promoting climate-smart agriculture, agroforestry, and value-chain development to reduce pressure on ecosystems while expanding economic opportunities.
Key project components will include Mangrove restoration, Ecosystems and biodiversity conservation, Promotion of Ecosystem-based Adaptation Alternative Livelihoods, Ecosystem-based Adaptation value chain support and Monitoring, Safeguards, and Community Oversight.

The project expects to achieve the following key deliverables among others:
- 50 hectares of mangrove restored
- 1 community-led mechanism established for identifying and reporting environmental threats
- 6 biodiversity awareness sessions conducted with participation from target community groups
- 50 TAMIA members and community leaders trained in sustainable natural resource governance and conflict management
- 30 participants trained in and equipped for climate-smart agriculture, agroforestry, etc.
- 20 participants trained in and equipped for beekeeping production and processing
- 30 participants trained in ecotourism-related skills
- 300 VSLAs members trained on VSLA operations, financial access and education
- 30 participants trained in Farmer Market Schools (FMS) approaches
- 20 community monitoring committee members trained in the use of monitoring tools
- 30 project staff trained in safeguarding, PSEA, GBV, and complaints and feedback mechanisms
- 20 community monitoring committee members sensitized on safeguarding, PSEA and GBV
